Great program! I've only used it in a few instances to keep track of my buffs when tanking in Rift. Still need to play around with the settings, but so far great work!
ReplyDeleteTesting this out since I heard good things about it. I really like this! Great work. The only thing (and maybe there is a way and I haven't found it) I would like to see would being able to position different timers in different areas of my screen. Also, it would be great if the triggers could produce a text box on screen. Thanks for Chronos. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteMultiple overlays (which would allow timers in different locations on your screen) are coming in the upcoming Chronos Beta :).
ReplyDeleteI will look into the trigger notification box for you. If not the current alpha version, then the beta at least!
Larks.
Thanks Larks!
ReplyDeleteBeen using this a bit more. One more request for you here. Would it be possible (or is it already possible) to show using the wildcard symbol the actual value in the overlay display text and TTS? For example using the text to match value as "$ is afflicted by Guurloth's Earthen Punishment.", I would like to show who is being afflicted to have it called out.
Many Thanks!
@Jon
ReplyDeleteThis is already possible :).
Simply use the $ symbol anywhere in your timer and it will be replaced by the wildcard text (also called an "extract" in Chronos). You can use $ in your overlay text, interruption text, text to speech, etc etc.
There is also another special symbol that you can use. If you're connected to a Chronos server, the ^ character will be replaced by that person's Chronos username. So if you had an event like the one you mentioned, "$ is afflicted by Guurloth's Earthen Punishment.", you could create some text to speech along with that, that states "^ is afflicted".
This will call out their Chronos username to all users connected to the server. So if a user called Morgdar was afflicted, Chronos would say "Morgdar is afflicted" to all users. Obviously you can do something similar with an extract :).
Keep in mind the main wildcard rule: You must have some "reference text" either side of the wildcard. So for example, if you're using the Rift combat log, you can always set something up like:
") $ gains CHARACTER's Healer's Covenant."
That bracket at the start would be fine as a "reference".
@Jon
ReplyDeleteThere was a bug in the extract code that meant it wasn't working correctly. I don't know if this was causing you any problems previously.
More info can be found in the latest post on the blog.
Anyway, everything should work fine now :).
Thanks!
Heyas Larks it's Jon again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your help. I'm still using your program here. I came across some problems that the combat log doesn't show some boss mechanics but there are emotes which are captured by the non combat log file ( /log to start it up). So, I'm wandering if there is a way to read that file also. Wait, I think you already have that setup with multiple log files? I'll double check when I get off work here.... Anyway, thanks again for all your help and for helping this program!
@Jon
ReplyDeleteHey Jon, glad to see Chronos is still being of use to you :).
Yes, you can use multiple log files. It's in your basic settings.
Thanks again Larks!
ReplyDeleteI was able to get the non combat log connected using the multiple log files settings. Just wandering if you still plan on putting an import/export feature in in chronos anytime soon. Some fellow users aren't so great at getting things set up (i.e. lazy) and would be nice to just import some personal triggers.
@ Jon
ReplyDeleteIt will be in Chronos Beta :). For now, you can pass around your perlist.chronos file :).

@Mazian
ReplyDeleteThat's a strange error. Never seen or ever had anything else reported like that before...
I have a few questions:
1) You said it never successfully runs. Has Chronos ever worked before?
2) Has Chronos produced any logs in ChronosClient\Logs?
3) Has the Chronos client created the basic files it needs to run? For example, ChronosClient\basicsettings.chronos
4) Have you tried running it in admin mode?
5) What version of Chronos are you running?
If your Chronos client has created any logs, send me them.
Thanks :).
1. Yes, it ran perfectly fine for weeks prior to Aug 17. It stopped working and I did double check to make sure that no Windows patches were installed immediately prior to when Chronos stopped working (in fact, Windows didn't update until 2 days after when Chronos last worked properly)
ReplyDelete2. Yes

3. Yes
4. Yes, and even compatability mode (everything from Windows 7 to Windows XP)
5. I re-downloaded the latest version off your download page as part of my troubleshooting. That didn't resolve the issue either. Unfortunately, there is no information in the README or anything else to indicate version if the software won't launch.
PS, here's a section of my perlist.chronos file (I crafted some timers for Zilas in Hammerknell, and tested these successfully.)

Backup your Chronos files and then try running the software from scratch.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably just a case of one of the data files not being written correctly. Try copying the Chronos exe and running it independently in a different folder.
If the exe doesn't run then there's a problem with your system. If it runs then there's a problem with the data files.
You're welcome to send me a ZIP or RAR with your data files if you'd like me to take a look. ( chronosdevelopment@gmail.com )
If you contact me by Email I can send you direct answers as well :).
Forwarded more detailed info via direct email, but after following the above recommendation, I tracked the problem down to the basicsettings.chronos file having been modified to omit any data at all (it was empty, but the file existed). Chronos (Client) will re-create the file if it's gone, but if it exists and is empty, it doesn't handle the exception correctly and crashes with the above error.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the help
Is there any chance that I can control the destination of the TTS? I'd like to send the TTS to different locations :) One would be my headset which is a different soundcard than my speakers. I'd also like to send it to Vent. Any chance this is in the works?
ReplyDeleteHi Dave!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to do this for you, but I've tried to research it and had no luck in the past. I'll try my best to figure it out for Chronos Beta :).
Nice system. Was referred to it by a new guildie who used it to track dkp in his last guild. Our current guild site is through enjin.com, and their dkp system leaves a LOT to be desired (including stability, have had numerous issues with folks disappearing, record corruption, etc). We are hoping to use Chronos instead, and just upload the results to display in the site. A couple requests (for reference, we use an activity based dkp system with dkp bidding for loot):
ReplyDelete- Event history (click a person, see the history of events attended / loot recieved)
- Assign loot (with loot name and cost, deducted from total points)
- list points earned (total), spent, and balance on front page
- list attendance % for last 15/30/90 days
- When assigning attendance, assign names for events for reference in history (frequent for people to have biased memory, and helps to have sufficient records to refer to at times, ie "Seasame St. raid, Big Bird/Oscar killed", then assign attendees and points)
