About Chronos

Chronos is a "global" timer software generally considered useful for raiding in MMO's which utilizes the client / server model, but a server is not required for use.

It should work with virtually any game that uses a plain text line by line based logfile. Two major examples would be EverQuest II and Rift: Planes of Telara. Chronos has been designed from the ground up to be as universally compatible as possible with different games, without the need for specifically creating the software around one type of logfile.

It will remain free while in alpha and possibly while in beta. An optional donate button is included in all versions of the software. When I make Chronos worth paying for, I may charge a small one off fee for the server version, although it will include no DRM or copy protection at all.

The aim of Chronos is to make available a robust, functional piece of timer software that is either free or cheap for all possible users who will benefit from it. It is also intentionally designed to continue working independent of a developer or website, which is why, for example, the update URL in the software is directly configurable in the application itself and Chronos works 100% from the executable alone and does not need to download any files as part of installation.

Feature List:

- An admin version and a client version. Clients connect to the admin which means global event triggers can be set up and all users notified when they fire
- Global timers managed on the server and clients are updated automatically on connecting
- Individual users may disable / enable global events just in case some do not apply to them
- Personal timers and triggers that are just for you
- Global timers are saved locally, so they can still be used locally when you're not connected to a server. Admins can disable client local saving of global events to add extra protection to their hard earned timers
- Works with pretty much any text based log file, regardless of layout or structure (EQ2, Rift, etc)
- Use multiple logs at once
- Robust timer editor with features unique to Chronos
- An overlay / timer window with customizable colors and transparency
- Customizable text to speech callouts for triggering, warning and interrupting
- Ability to use WAV files instead of text to speech
- Use an extract from your log (for example "Nasty Mob hits $!"). The dollar sign would be "extracted" for use in your text to speech, overlay text, etc.
- Insert the user name of the person who triggered an event (with text to speech, for example "^ was cursed!")
- Icons for timers (yes, you can make and add your own!)
- Robust program and server options
- User management, including the ability to disable and enable the eligibility of users for attendance and DKP
- DKP and attendance management
- DKP clock for communities that assign DKP over time
- Attendance based DKP reset
- Customizable "stats" webpage that can be used to display your DKP / attendance of your users on your website (Sample here)
- FTP upload support for the stats page
- Text to speech dictionary, which you can use to enter phonetic pronunciations for any words that may be spoken
- Automatic updater
- Use and create custom themes and layouts for your overlay
